Buying Wholesale Sectionals: A Checklist for Arizona Furniture Retailers
Buying sectionals for a furniture store takes more planning than choosing a fabric color. The configuration, floor space, seating dimensions, and delivery requirements all affect how accurately your team can present the product and fulfill an order.
For Phoenix and Arizona furniture retailers, this checklist offers a practical way to compare wholesale sectionals and build an assortment around your customers’ needs.
Choose configurations that serve different needs
Start by reviewing the questions customers ask in your store. Do they need a chaise for lounging, flexible seating for a changing room layout, or a sleeper for occasional guests? Use those conversations to decide which configurations deserve showroom space.
- Chaise sectionals: confirm the chaise orientation and the complete footprint. Do not assume a model is reversible.
- Modular sectionals: ask which pieces can be rearranged, how they connect, and whether exposed sides are finished for the intended layout.
- Sectionals with ottomans: confirm whether the ottoman is included and whether the advertised dimensions cover the sectional alone or the complete arrangement.
- Sleeper or storage sectionals: check the space needed to operate the mechanism, along with any assembly or use instructions.
Browse Norwick’s wholesale sectional collection to compare available listings. For a smaller seating footprint, also review the sofa and couch collection.
Write down the exact piece count
A product described as a five-piece sectional may not include the same components as another supplier’s five-piece set. Some listings count an ottoman as one of the pieces, while others list it separately.
Build a simple specification sheet for each model: corner units, armless seats, chaise units, ottomans, and any included accessories. Match this list to the photographs and your customer invoice. If the order is a five-piece sectional plus an ottoman, use that complete wording rather than shortening it to an ambiguous piece count.
Measure both the seating and the delivery path
Overall width and depth help establish whether a sectional fits a room, but they do not describe the entire seating experience. Seat depth, seat height, arm width, and back height give your sales team more useful information when helping customers compare models.
For modular furniture, request individual component dimensions as well. A large overall layout may arrive in separate pieces, but each piece still needs to pass through the receiving area and the final delivery route.
Before committing to a difficult delivery, review doorway widths, turns, stairs, and elevators with the relevant delivery provider. Packaged dimensions can differ from assembled dimensions, so ask for both when available.
Describe upholstery and cushions accurately
Use the supplier’s confirmed material specifications in your listings. A soft appearance in a photograph does not establish cushion fill, fabric composition, or care requirements.
Check these details before publishing a product page or training your sales team:
- Upholstery material and the supplier’s approved cleaning instructions.
- Cushion fill and any routine maintenance guidance.
- Whether covers are removable, and separately, whether they are washable.
- Frame and support information where provided.
- Any supported performance claims, such as stain resistance.
Avoid adding durability or cleaning claims simply because similar-looking furniture has those features. Clear, accurate descriptions give customers a better basis for choosing.
Plan your showroom and opening quantities together
Before buying several similar sectionals, map out the space each display will occupy, including an ottoman and walking room. Decide what each model contributes to the assortment: a different size, configuration, upholstery, or function.
Use your own sales history and customer inquiries to guide color and quantity decisions. If you are introducing a new style, ask the supplier about ordering requirements and replenishment before committing to quantities your store may take time to sell.
Confirm current availability for the exact model and color. A product listing is useful for research, but it should not substitute for confirming the quantity and delivery arrangements for your order.
Include transportation in your buying calculation
Compare the cost of the furniture together with the quoted transportation charge and your receiving costs. For an order of several sectionals, dividing transportation costs across the units can help you compare different order sizes. Use actual quotes rather than assuming a larger order always costs less per unit to move.
Norwick offers $25 local delivery for eligible destinations within its 50-mile Phoenix Valley delivery area. Eligibility depends on the shipping address. Customer pickup is not currently available.
Destinations outside the local area require a separate freight quote based on destination and order size. Provide the business address, receiving contact, loading-dock availability, liftgate requirements, and special access notes. Freight pricing and shipment are not confirmed simply by submitting an order.
Prepare your team before the first customer order
Give sales and receiving staff the same product information: the exact configuration, dimensions, included pieces, confirmed care instructions, and the order’s delivery arrangements. Keep a record of what was ordered so the receiving team can compare the delivery with the purchase documents.
Ask the supplier about the process and time limits for reporting damage or missing items before the shipment arrives. Follow the carrier’s and supplier’s receiving instructions, and keep the documentation requested for any issue.
